The life and times of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj

Timelines are often great ways to understand the chronology of events.

In this series, lets go through some timelines of critical historical characters and events that shaped their persona.

Todays Episode – The life and times of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj eldest son of Shivaji Maharaj.

One Response to The life and times of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj

  1. Shashioak says:

There are few references of Military commandership. His leadership qualities show his military campaigns mostly ended with withdrawal, defeats. His maiden attack on Ramnagar was innovative. However, his defection was a scar on his bravery. Even the benefit of doubt is given as it was a ploy by Shivaji Maharaj, it ended with a sad father not able to connect with his son’s aspirations. He was not able to make a team of subordinates. They often ditched him. His most campaigns were in coastal regions from Vasai to down south goa. His friendship with Mysore didn’t fetch desired results as a counter force to Thanjavur Maratha kingdom.
He was sentenced to death because of his plunder at Mughal seat of power Burhanpur and around commercial townships.
My observations are rather vague and would like to get corrected if necessary.
